| The United Nations Development Fund for Women (UNIFEM) works across the UN system, with National Governments and NGOs to support & achieve Gender Equality and increase the accountability of Governments to Gender Equality commitments. In order to better achieve these aims, UNIFEM Pacific, has set up offices in a number of Pacific Island Countries. |
| Vanuatu is a focus country for many of its programmes and therefore has an office in Port Vila. Currently in office are the outgoing Country Projects Coordinator and the National Coordinator and Administrator for the Gender Equality in Political Governance Programme. This is one of UNIFEM’s largest programmes, aimed at achieving more gender equality in the field of |
| politics and governance. However UNIFEM also has various other projects active in Vanuatu for which they need a dynamic and confident Country Projects Coordinator. The Country Projects Coordinator will be based in the UNIFEM office and will liaise with the UNIFEM Pacific Regional Office based in Suva, Fiji to provide the technical expertise required to implement |

| Interested applicant must possess the following requirements: |
| Criteria: |
| - Will be responsible for the implementation of a range of gender equality related activities at national and local level; Will report to the Regional Director of UNIFEM Pacific based in Suva and will work |
| alongside the Gender Equality in Political Governance Programme (GEPG) staff based in Vila and the logistical and technical team based in suva |
| - Should have a qualification in a relevant subject; At least 2 years experience in development advocacy and programming at a national level and a strong familiarity with the national women’s movement and |
| leading, government and civil society networks in Vanuatu |
| - A dynamic, proactive person, preferably a Ni-Vanuatu national; Has a good understanding of gender issues, experience working with donors, government and civil society; Is ready and willing to tackle new |
| challenges to ensure the success of UNIFEM’s programming in Vanuatu |
| - Will be required to foster strategic working relationships with these partners; Be pro-active in seeking out and forging new effective partnerships with other organisations as these possibilities arise. |
